About Science Geek

I'm a guy who works on PCs, both hardware and software; I love the challenges this work presents, I like hunting down solutions to difficult problems. I also program in several languages but mostly just for fun. I was born in 1962. The first computer I ever used was an IBM System 360 when I was 8 years old, and it's been a love affair ever since. At the time, I never dreamed I'd one day own several vastly more powerful computers myself. I've seen a lot of the US but still have a lot to see. I'd be happy to just explore it for the rest of my life. I'd dearly love to see England, Scotland, and my ancestral homeland, Wales. I love science in general and have some eduction in the fields of electronics (analog and digital) and Information Technology although I think I've learned more just by reading and diving in. I love reading about all of the sciences, and spend a lot of time doing just that. I guess I'm a knowledge junkie, that moment of insight at the acquisition of some new piece of knowledge is an incredible feeling unlike any other. nobody can ever take knowledge away from you and you never know when it will come in handy; it often does. I have been with a wonderful man, whom I consider my husband, since 1986; he means everything to me and I hope to be married to him one day should that ever become a possibility here in Ohio. Before my life in Ohio, I had lived in Costa Mesa and Coronado, CA. In Jacksonville, FL. and in Chattanooga, TN. I served in the US Navy as an Avionics Technician and achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd class. I've read just about every Stephen King book and short story ever written, not only do I admire his work (I hope he outlives me!), but I admire the man himself. Science fiction is another great love of mine, especially older stories from the '60s or before and translated Russian and other foreign works from the past. Old science fiction is fun, and it's easy to see who was particularly visionary. My favorite SF author has to be Arthur C. Clarke, I've read nearly all of his fiction, but I have many other favorites as well. Well, that's me in a nut-shell.
